I am a PhD candidate in York and Ryerson Universities’ Joint Graduate Program in Communication and Culture. My dissertation, Making the Man of the Moment: Eugen Sandow and Muscled Masculinity, addresses the intersection of masculinity and popular science in nineteenth-century print culture.
A digital humanities enthusiast, I am the project manager of The 1890s Online, a scholarly site dedicated to fin-de-siècle periodicals and the context of their production. I co-direct a small DH project with an extraordinary archivist, Michelle Schwartz. Entitled Lesbian and Gay Liberation In Canada 1964-1975: An Online Research Database and Community Resource, the project has developed out of our volunteer work at the Canadian Lesbian and Gay Archives in Toronto.
