Scott Paul McGinnis 馬吉寧 is a Ph.D. candidate in history at the University of California, Berkeley, with a focus on early Chinese intellectual history and historiography. He first became interested in the digital humanities while pursuing a master’s degree at Washington University in St. Louis, where he worked on TEI-based text encoding projects for that university’s Digital Library Services unit. He is experimenting with ways to use computing technology in his research on early China, and is also interested in the digital humanities as a subject of inquiry.
